Art Vaughan
Multi-disciplinary Artist
Art from the poetic imagination.
Art for the soul.
My art is not for everyone.
I create evocative images as intimate spaces for contemplation. My paintings, collages, assemblages and sculptures gradually reveal themselves to the attentive observer. I like to imagine that experiencing my works is like having a quiet, private conversation with a stranger you feel you have known all your life.
I am entranced by the land as a living presence, the poignancy of weathered and worn surfaces and the sentient presence of natural objects. I work from the poetic imagination transforming materials into art works which, if successful, have a life of their own. Rather than show reality, I want to create art works which have their own reality which can be entered into through the imagination.
My creative process is a dance between intuition and direction, between inspiration and aesthetics, and between passion and control. I use use multiple viewpoints, suggestion, double and multiple viewpoints, glimpses and isolations as disruptions to everyday perception.
My latest project is an image and text exploration of Walls: Part 1, Ambiguities; Part 2, Stories; Part 3, Life; Part 4, Traces
